Pillar at sunset. Sun pillars occur with the presence of ice crystals in the upper atmosphere. This one appeared briefly as the sun reached the lower edge of the cloudbank, and then again when it dropped below the horizon. Location: Green Bay, Wisconsin. Date: 12-23-02.
