This image was taken from a dorm on the Illinois State campus. The storm was one of many scattered storms which rolled in quickly from the southeast creating an interesting contrast with the sunny skies. Editor's Note: Mammatus clouds formed in sinking air that is cooler than the air around/below... resulting in the hanging bumps or boiling effect seen here... often associated with thunderstorm activity.
