This is a double rainbow over the town of Glastonbury
in Somerset, England, which I recently visited. The arcs were perfectly
formed, and sunlight, as seen on the red building on the right, was
streaming through. The secondary arc, though a bit blurry, was
nonetheless brilliant. I have since read that in double rainbows, the
colors of the two arcs are always in inverse order, and that a darker
band of sky always appears between the two arcs, just as it does in my
photo. Although I had just come out of a restaurant where I had dinner,
I do not believe that it was raining just before the rainbow appeared,
though it had rained throughout the region on and off all day--actually
5 or 6 brief periods, my my count!
